Brief Description
The Gender Advisory Council (GAC) was established by Cabinet approval in January 2018 for an initial three-year term and reconstituted with new members in 2023. The GAC provides oversight for the implementation of the National Strategic Action Plan for Gender-Based Violence (NSAP-GBV) and the National Policy for Gender Equality (NPGE), coordinating among key stakeholders and technical working groups. The Council also led the development and implementation of a Gender Mainstreaming Manual for the public sector, disseminated through the Gender Focal Point network as part of a broader sector strategy. The GAC continues to play a central role in monitoring and supporting the national gender equality and GBV response framework.
